Genesis of the "NO" Logo

In history there have been two basic forms of social organization: collectivism and individualism. In the 20th and 21st century, collective variations have included socialism, fascism, Nazism, and communism. Under collectivism, a ruling class of “intellectuals”, bureaucrats, politicians and/or social planners decides what people want or what is “good” for society and then uses the coercive power of the State to regulate, tax and redistribute wealth in an attempt to achieve their desired objectives. Individualism is a political and social philosophy that emphasizes individual liberty, belief in the primary importance of the individual and in the virtues of self-reliance and personal independence and responsibility. It embraces opposition to controls over the individual when exercised by the state. The Preamble to our Constitution makes it plain that all power rests originally with the people, as individuals.
The “O” within the circle represents collectivism in its various forms. The “N” represents an emphatic repudiation of collectivism. The red, white and blue circles encompassing the “NO” are emblematic of our Republic. It is the responsibility of the individuals in an engaged and enlightened republic to limit the influence of the government, especially one that attempts to wield power outside the boundaries delineated by the Constitution.

Subsistence as Freedom

Freedom and liberty require individual sacrifice and responsibility. Government power and control directly correlate to individual responsibility. As government increases power and control over the citizenry, there is a corresponding decrease in personal responsibility resulting in less liberty, freedom, and variety. Prosperity diminishes while subservience grows.

Don't Confuse being "pro-Business"(corporatism) with "pro-Market"

This is the threat of corporatism - that it's pro-business and anti-market. Unfettered capitalism represents a threat to existing firms as much as a boon to them because the unforgiving discipline of the market always looms.

Fighting Statism

The Founders of the United States hoped to create a society of free individuals, but for at least a century, the nation has been marching ever more quickly in the direction of tyranny. The independent Tea Party movement represents a renewed desire to roll back the tide of government expansion, but this cause will fail unless its participants take an uncompromising stand in favor of individual rights. A building, no matter how rigid, cannot stand upon a weak and cracked foundation. In the same vein, errors and inconsistencies in a society's philosophical foundation will cause its downfall -- even in one as great as ours.

Principles of a Free Society

State-economics separation preserves the individual’s ability to follow the best economic ideas. As Ayn Rand illustrated so powerfully in Atlas Shrugged, by liberating the economy from government controls, separation of state and economics liberates the greatest power on earth: the individual human mind, with all its creative potential to sustain and enhance human life.

Separation of state and economics is the ideal the Tea Parties should stand for; we must completely disentangle the government from economic affairs, and keep it out. To be sure, this goal will take time—and a roadmap—to reach the point where there are no government controls, no handouts, and no bailouts. But it is the only valid destination.

Obama's Quiet War on Red States

Facts may be stubborn things, but facts never get in the way of hardcore ideology. It would never occur to Mr. Obama and blue-state liberals to reform in favor of less government, fewer and lower taxes, and fiscal restraint. And imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, but liberals don't intend to tear a page out of red-state playbooks -- not unless they wish to forsake the coalition of unions (public and private sector), minorities (the establishments therein), trial attorneys (money), grievance groups (nanny-staters included) and liberal interest groups that keep Democrats in power.

Tea Party Movement 2.0

This posting was redacted from Erick Erikson's RedState blog. In addition to attending rallies, we must do more. Here are some suggestions:

  • Learn how to be a better online activist.
  • Start paying attention to your local government.
  • Learn how to run for office and be a campaign strategist, whether or not you want to run or want to be a strategist. You will find the skills extremely useful.
  • Write letters to the editor of your paper.
  • Call in to local radio shows — not national, local.
  • Find candidates you like and support them, blog about them, promote them and fund them.
  • Stay connected to like minded souls in your community to know you are not alone — why I still like and support local tea party groups.
  • Become active in the political party of your choice. Change it from the inside, not the outside.
  • Learn to discern.
  • Above all else: remember that when the left attacks the tea party activists, they are attacking the foundation of America. Stop responding as an aggrieved tea party activist and start asking what part of the American way of life they have a problem with.

The Blood of Patriots and Tyrants

Who were the men that inspired the present day Tea Party movement? Bill Whittle offers some great insights from our founding fathers. Enjoy.

The Myths of managing Health Care

    http://www.americanthinker.com/2010/04/the_myths_of_managing_healthca.html

The Liberty to Achieve - "Social Justice" is an Oxymoron

Whenever I hear the term "social justice", I cringe. Ben Franklin once said:
"I am for doing good to the poor, but I differ in opinion of the means. I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it. In my youth I travelled much, and I observed in different countries, that the more public provisions were made for the poor, the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer. And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer". Read on!

Another gem from the American Thinker

Liberty-loving Americans need to keep the fight up not just to November, but well past it. Victory comes to those who weather adversities and persevere. American patriots propose not just to secure recently imperiled liberties, but to eventually restore the liberties lost to the statists over the last eight decades. Let us pray that God disposes well of the patriots' intentions.

How the Left plans to pay for Obamacare

Here is some analysis from the Heritage Foundation. Get familiar with the Value Added Tax(VAT).

Thought for the Day: 16th-century French economist Colbert said, "The art of taxation is to pluck the maximum number of feathers from the goose with the minimum amount of hissing."

Who knew and when did they know it?

Back in 2006-2007 when the Dow Industrial Average was hovering between 13,000 and 14,000, there were individuals who where predicting the looming financial crisis. Most of the talking heads marginalized these individuals. Watch this youtube video with Peter Schiff. He was correctly predicting the impending financial debacle when most everyone else was talking about the robust economy. Here are some links to individuals or think tanks(Ayn Rand Center) that had a good handle on the recession we are now experiencing.

Natural Law and the "Right" to Health Care

    http://www.americanthinker.com/2010/03/natural_law_and_the_right_to_h.html

We are challenged to answer again the momentous questions our Founders raised when they launched mankind's noblest experiment in human freedom. They made a fundamental choice and changed history for the better. Now it's our high calling to make that choice: between managed scarcity, or solid growth ... between living in dependency on government handouts, or taking responsibility for our lives ... between confiscating the earnings of some and spreading them around, or securing everyone's right to the rewards of their work ... between bureaucratic central government, or self-government ... between the European social welfare state or the American idea of free market democracy.
