Genesis of the "NO" Logo

In history there have been two basic forms of social organization: collectivism and individualism. In the 20th and 21st century, collective variations have included socialism, fascism, Nazism, and communism. Under collectivism, a ruling class of “intellectuals”, bureaucrats, politicians and/or social planners decides what people want or what is “good” for society and then uses the coercive power of the State to regulate, tax and redistribute wealth in an attempt to achieve their desired objectives. Individualism is a political and social philosophy that emphasizes individual liberty, belief in the primary importance of the individual and in the virtues of self-reliance and personal independence and responsibility. It embraces opposition to controls over the individual when exercised by the state. The Preamble to our Constitution makes it plain that all power rests originally with the people, as individuals.
The “O” within the circle represents collectivism in its various forms. The “N” represents an emphatic repudiation of collectivism. The red, white and blue circles encompassing the “NO” are emblematic of our Republic. It is the responsibility of the individuals in an engaged and enlightened republic to limit the influence of the government, especially one that attempts to wield power outside the boundaries delineated by the Constitution.

When Masculine Virtues go out of Fashion

The culture war begun in the sixties has, in large part, been won by the left. Nowhere is this clearer than in the feminization of men. The virtues of manhood which had been extolled and celebrated throughout the middle ages right up to the 1950s have been completely expunged from academia and pop culture. The baby boom generation was the last to be taught the values of rugged individualism, risk-taking, courage, bravery, loyalty, and reverence for tradition.

Remembering the forgotten - "that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion-that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain -- that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom "...Abraham Lincoln at Gettysburg

Andrew Klavin on Immigration

Andrew is always good for some great insights along with comic relief

"It is incredible how as soon as a people become subject, it promptly falls into such complete forgetfulness of its freedom that it can hardly be roused to the point of regaining it, obeying so easily and willingly that one is led to say that this people has not so much lost its liberty as won its enslavement." -- Estienne de la Boétie (1530-1563) French judge, writer, political philosopher

Citizens or Subjects: Keynesian Economics

American voters did not elect Keynesian socialists to deconstruct the most successful economic system the world has ever seen, but that is what is happening. It is now evident, even to some of Obama's most ardent supporters, that the promises were merely expedient tools to power, classic stereotypes of political rhetoric forgotten as soon as the oath of office had been spoken. The citizens have noticed the cynicism and arrogance, and we are not forgiving of the deception. More government means inefficiency, corruption, and excessive spending. Excessive spending means more taxes. More taxes mean less growth and more regulation. More regulation means less freedom, and less freedom means failure. It always has, and it always will.

Why Conservatives love the Founders

History is full of Obamas, and the people who idolized such power-hungry self-glorifying narcissists. The Founders understood human history in their very bones, because they read history from the Bible to the Roman Empire, Europe's bloody and tyrannical history, and the Americas. If you want to understand Obama, just look at any idolized hero in Latin America: Chavez, Fidel, Bolivar, Juan Peron. Look at European monarchs. Look at Napoleon.

This is his broadcast from Thursday, May 12th. He is making a cogent argument that these circumstances can no longer be viewed as circumstantial.

The Declaration of Independence as Law

While our Constitution and Bill of Rights are the greatest secular laws ever written, it must be acknowledged that our secular Constitution has a sacred mandate -- the Declaration of Independence. The American Revolution is first and foremost a revolution in sacred, unalienable human rights and their associated moral laws (Declaration), and secondarily a revolution in secular law (Constitution). We must be aware that secular law, and particularly the "Living Constitution" (Orwellian Newspeak for Dead Constitution), can be perverted into tyranny when such law becomes destructive of the individual's human rights.

Congressman Mike Pence on the Greece bailout

We are not going to ask the European Union to bail out New Jersey or California, so why should US Taxpayer dollars go to bailing out Greece?

Theodore Roosevelt on Immigration 1907

'In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language.. And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.'

The Failure of the Unfree Market

No one has a free market. I encourage you to look at the U.S. Statistical Abstract, Table 1324. That table tells us how much various governments spent as fractions of their economies. The U.S., the supposedly "free market" cowboy of the bunch, had a government that spent 38.6% of its country's GDP in 2008. The lowest of the bunch was South Korea, at 30.9%, and the highest was France, at 52.5%. Five countries, of 28 listed, spent less than the U.S. did, including Australia and Switzerland. Greece was merely in the middle of the pack at 43.2%.

Economics: It's Greek to the Socialists

One Nation, Under Stress, Under Debt - IOUSA, The Movie

This movie excerpt is a little dated in that the information includes statistics up to 2007. Since that time, the US deficit and debt have accelerated to warp speed. This is a sobering and informative video. Visit the website. It is time well spent.

A Preview of Things to Come

Here is Daniel Hannan, a conservative member of the British Parliament, addressing the failed economic policies of Britain's Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Who is the Daniel Hannan of our US Congress that will address the same concerns to Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid? This speech was given in March of 2009. Britain and the US share many of the same economic conditions and "solutions".
